PRECEPT MINISTRIES

Precept upon precept

line upon line

Precept Ministries was founded by Jack and Kay Arthur. It is an inductive method of studying the bible. This means that you start out by seeing what the bible says first, before you go to any other books and commentaries. There is the story of studying a frog.....a student wanted to know all about a frog. His professor gave him a frog to look at. After spending some minutes looking at the frog, the student returned to the professor and asked him what to do next. The professor looked at him and said, 'go study the frog some more'...... The student went back and for the next couple of hours stared at the green frog....all he could see was a frog. He wanted to hit the books and find out about it. The professor returned, and the student thought that now he would get another assignment. His professor told him to 'study the frog some more'.....By this time the student was fed up, but decided he would give it another try. Picking up the frog, he really started to look at it, and little by little he began to discover, for himself,  many things about the frog that he had missed before.
The professor finally came back, and told him that he would learn so much more about the frog from studying the frog, and not studying about the frog. The student then wanted to go on studying the frog!!!!

TO KNOW THE BIBLE, YOU HAVE TO FIRST STUDY IT, READ IT, READ IT, AND READ IT SOME MORE. ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE THOROUGHLY MEDITATED OVER IT AND DISCOVERED FOR YOURSELF WHAT  IT SAYS, SHOULD YOU GO TO OTHER BOOKS.

TRY IT, YOU WILL FIND IT AN EXCITING ADVENTURE.

Whatever our hands touch-
We leave fingerprints!
On walls, on furniture
On doorknobs, dishes, books.
There's no escape.
As we touch we leave our identity.

Oh God, wherever I go today
Help me leave heartprints!
Heartprints of compassion
Of understanding and love.
Heartprints of kindness
And genuine concern.
May my heart touch a lonely neighbor
Or a runaway daughter
Or an anxious mother
Or perhaps an aged grandfather.

Lord, send me out today
To leave heartprints.
And if someone should say
"I felt your touch,"
May that one sense YOUR LOVE
Touching through ME.
