I am so glad you decided to drop by and visit my world and get to know me a little. The most important thing that has ever happened in my life was accepting the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Before that I had been brought up in the traditional English way, there was a God, and Jesus, but impersonal, up in the clouds somewhere. Then I found out that I needed to make Him my PERSONAL Savior, because I was a sinner, as we all are, that I needed to confess my sins and believe He is the Son of God, who died for my sins at Calvary, that He was the only one who could take my sins away, and make me His child. On the 31st March 1961 I made that commitment, and my life was changed completely. I was 'reborn' into God's family. Since then I have found Him to be my Lord, friend, brother and all that I will ever need.
Crewe in Cheshire was where I was born, and I lived there until I went into the Royal Air Force. The town was a 'railroad' town, and the home of the Rolls Royce. All I ever wanted to do was act, and my dream was to go to Hollywood. This was not to be realized until just a couple of years ago....Hollywood or bust....My one other dream was to travel, and joining the RAF was the very best way I could think of to do that. Little did I know that when I put on the uniform, it would be the means of meeting the love of my life....
When I was at school the subjects that were my favorites were English, Drama, and History. Sciences and Math were a HORROR to me.... At the time I was growing, up the careers for women were few, so I decided on becoming a secretary, but I loathed every minute of it. In the RAF I worked in communications and loved the hustle and bustle. I was cleared for top secret work (which meant I got to know things first...:)) and it was truly interesting.
As a child and a teenager I seemed to remember spending my life at the movies, and no matter what was playing, I was there. If I was not at the movies, I was reading. Both of these activities are still favorite things to do, but alas, I feel that the cinema today is not nearly as good as it was before!!! When we have family get togethers invariably I am reminded of how I used to dress up and 'perform'. The dressing table in my mothers room was my 'screen' and I would don her counterpane to be dressed for the part. Usually I was a princess. I am told that my rendering of 'April Showers' when I was three brought tears to the eyes of those watching and listening (I am not sure if this was because I was so bad or so good!!!) I was not able to pursue an acting career, because of financial constraints, but in later life I found something that was just as fulfilling...and you will find out about that as you read on.
After my new birth in Christ, the second most momentous event was marrying my beloved husband Ray. We met in Cyprus, while we were both with the Royal Air Force. Not only did I fall in love with him, he was the one who first told me about my need of a Savior. Since 1962 we have been together, had our ups and downs, our joys and pains, our happiness and griefs, but through it all we have been held together by our love for Jesus Christ, and our commitment to each other. It is really true that love is sweeter as the years go by. I have a few of my wedding pictures that you can see if you would like to. God has blessed me with three wonderful boys and two darling grandchildren.
Ray and were privileged to spend 16 years in the Paris area, and I was able to indulge my passion for historic places to the full. One of my very favorite spots was the Loire Valley where there are many chateaux to visit. It also made me hit the books and learn more about French history. Paris is my favorite city, and I just loved walking along the boulevards, drinking coffee on the Champs Elysees, and eating croissants. After 16 years, the Lord called us to full time service for Him, in the South of France, at a place called Brignoles, which is between Marseilles and Nice. We worked in a camp, and did church planting.
So maybe you are now wondering how I came to be in America? The Lord brought us here to pastor a church. When we came in 1988 it was to a church in Seattle, then we spent two years on Vancouver Island, in camp work, and church ministry, before moving back to Cosmopolis, (the center of the world!!) in Washington State. It is very very rainy, and we have one of the highest rainfalls in the country. I tell people I don't get a sun tan, I just rust. It is certainly a big change from the South of France. However, the people are wonderful and we are truly grateful for this chance to get to know Americans and their way of life.
As I said before, I have always wanted to act, and in 1984 I finally found a medium that I could use my talents in. This was ventriloquism. Maher Studio in Colorado U.S.A. taught me this art, through correspondence school when I lived in Brignoles, and since then I have been using it whenever, and where ever I can, schools, camps, churches, retreats, tv, and just for fun. So I effectively have two families, my 'real' one and my 'imaginary' one. This family, unlike my real one, has grown steadily over the years, and it always amazes me that, as I grow older, my puppets do not!!! Just for your pleasure you may see some of my collection if you go to My other 'family'
As a pastor's wife I am passionately interested in teaching the bible using Precept Bibles Studies, which is a method of teaching people how to study the bible for themselves. It was my great good fortune to be able to go to Chattanooga and attend leader training there. Now I teach at classes and I also attend classes. Over the years, this is the one study that has helped me the most, and God has used me to help others also, understand for themselves the truths of the bible. So, if you have any questions about this study, please email me and I will help you all I can. It is the best method I know for bringing the truths of the Word to light. You will find all you need to know about this exceptional ministry here Precept Ministries
When I got married, I could hardly cook an egg. In fact my first Christmas meal was a disaster. I never knew that the turkey had a plastic bag with bits inside it, and so I cooked it, plastic and all. Since then though, as it has been my privilege to live in different areas of the world, I have learned to cook My very first teacher was a German lady, who lived in Kyrenia, Cyprus and was so sorry for my poor husband she took me under her wing. As did an Arab lady who also felt Ray had to put up with a great deal!!! So one of my great delights now is cooking International meals.
Now I hope you will continue to explore my world and to find out more about the interesting things that go on when you take a peek in
