Cheryl's Palace
Welcome to Cheryl's Palace! This is such an exciting time to be getting online. So many new and interesting places to visit and explore! I have been trying to catch up to my husband and I am closing the gap! I am working on a masters degree in educational technology through City U. I am enjoying spending quality time on the computer! (20 hours per month, all in one week-end) I have learned so many things that are making a difference in my classroom. I am a teacher. I work in a very unique small school district in southwest Washington. It is a K-8 school with about 135 students. I am very fortunate to have only 8 first graders in my class this year. I can very honestly say, class size does make a huge difference! The individual time I can give to each student is making a remarkable difference in their learning. Our school has always pushed for being on the front of technology. We have always provided computers and extras to our students. I have four Macs and a printer in my classroom. My students are very skilled in working with computers. It is great! Now for the rest of my life! I enjoy doing craft projects and sewing. I like to read and collect childrens books. I like sports. I love to go shopping and out to lunch with friends. I am active in my church with the choir, bible study group and sunday school.
I would love to hear from any other primary teachers. I am involved with the Leadership in Reading group for Washington state. I am also the chairman of my school's Student Learning Improvemnet Team. I would love to get inservice ideas on the alignment and implementation of the new Essential Academic Learning requirements.
