Adding meat goats made sense with the demand for goat meat and Boer breeding stock what it is. We were talked into showing our Percentage Boer does in 2002 at a fair. I was already there with Dairy goats so why not? I kept what I always felt were my BEST % does to breed. I was very pleased to see the Judge felt the same way with one of our young does getting the Jr. Ch. Percentage win! Needless to say this got us into showing Boer goats. We added Full Blood Boer does fall of 2005. We have always used FB bucks in our breeding. We plan to introduce some outside genetics with AI in the Boers just like we do now with the Saanens. Our Boer herd is small but nice. We are striving to produce quality breeding stock with our Boer herd. My ideal Boer female should be productive with multiple kids each year, milk well to feed her 2-4 kids and be an excellent mother. She should be able to do this for 7-10 years. She naturally will have to be sound and of correct meat goat style. Bucks should be correct in structure plus have length and width with heavy muscling in all the right places. Our Percentage does are descended from some of our top Dairy lines. We have Lamancha/Boer crosses with some 88% females STILL showing ELF EARS! That tiny Lamancha ear is a strong genetic trait; however the cross is one of the best for muscling and carcass quality! Most of the % does have eared kids now. As the old gals pass on that earless trait will be lost. BUCKS: ROCKY RUN DM TURBO 070423051 Born 3-2-07 FB Turbo is the new guy in town. He is a well made buck. Good length, wide front to back and lots of muscling already at just 4 months of age. I greatly admire his sire, Diesel, and am thrilled to have this young buck in the herd. She was still nursing one of her triplets so is a bit thin in this photo but you can see she is sound. DEEP DARK RED traditional head makes her a stand out. Click here for more information on Malta. BODIE’S MIMOSA 044250611 Born 4-20-03 FB Mimosa is a long bodied doe. She is well balanced with good feet and legs. We retained her buck kid sired by Diesel as our new herd sire. ROCKY RUN ACE’S MALT-O-MEAL Born 4-13-06 FB Malt-O-Meal was on the small side her first year so we held her open. She has now caught up with the other yearlings and is living with Turbo to possibly have December kids. She is wide and stocky looking much like her dam, Malta. Milky is, well, milky! 11 kids in 4 kiddings this is a prolific doe, one of the girls who has kidded three times in 2 years! She has one Reserve Senior Champion the only time shown as a mature doe.
