"Go Softly" was
written in February 2000 after my brother, Sam, was killed while working
as a flagger for the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Sam left behind a much beloved wife and four
incredible children.
We all miss Sam terribly. I wrote this so I could let
him go. Because in spite of our desperate grief, his time here was
done.
Sam, we miss you every day.

Go Softly...
Go softly now,
On wings of wind,
With steps that leave
No trail in the morning dew.
Drift quietly away,
And join the light
That burns my heart
And sears my soul.
Lift up and fly!
And tarry not,
But leave the pain
And vanish from this heavy place.
Go softly now
On wings of wind,
Reach out and touch
Eternal Light awaiting your sweet soul.
I had many opportunities to let
my brother know
I was thinking of him. Too often, I
let those opportunities pass. Are you thinking of someone special right now? Let them know. You won't regret it.

Hectic Year
'Twas the month after Christmas, the
year just begun,
The presents were opened, toys broken, food gone.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But notes from the Masters Sirs Roebuck and Sears.
And one from that Frenchman, Monsieur J. C. Penn-ay
And another one here labeled "Lé K-Marché'"....A Hectic Year

I live in my own little world. But
it's ok, they know me here.

Faith....
I worked for thirteen years for the one of the best government
agencies in the state. Politics being what they are, our state's leadership changed and my
boss was replaced.
When she came to tell me it was time I moved on, I was relieved. But after thirteen
years, there was still some residual pain.
(with apologies to E. A. Poe)
Once upon a winter dreary,
Rain and Sleet and Snowy flurry,
Driving rain (and driving in it),
Wasting not a single minute,
In my flight to work and worry,
Where my new Boss had such a fury,
Over words spoke true, but hasty,
Quoth this Mother, "Nevermore!"
