I’m going to use this page to discuss a new Barrel Racing association that PBHA and CBR will be co-sanctioning with:

The economic downturn America is experiencing is affecting all aspects of society.

This includes our favorite sport, Barrel Racing.

The reality is; riders have less money to spend on recreational activities.

It is a struggle for many to keep a roof over their head, food on the table, and health care.

One comment we hear repeatedly from our area riders is they want more local races that are affordable. They want a chance to run for real money without excessive fees.

Riders are looking at the total costs of competing at a race; fuel, camping/lodging, hookups, haul-in fees, stalls, office fees, award fees, sanction fees, entry fees, etc.

The smart racer adds up all these “fees” to get a total cost of the weekend; they then look at added money and awards to see if enough value for their money is offered to justify their outlay of hard-earned cash.

In many cases, riders are just choosing to stay home.

Another comment we hear is they don’t want to travel long distances to a championship show, they want a local championship show in Western Washington in the fall.

GOOD NEWS!!!

Mitzi and I are part of a group of Riders/Producers that have been studying these issues and we have decided to move forward with a new sanctioning association.

We have several areas of primary focus:

1.                  Our entry fees are limited to $45.

2.                  We will limit the office fee to $7.

3.                  We will curtail or limit any other fees.

4.                  We will have a Fall Championship show at the Trails with GREAT awards!

5.                  We will give the maximum value to the barrel racers and we will have FUN!

Our group is comprised of people who have great credibility and reputation in Barrel racing. We have produced many races at all levels, including the last two NBHA Washington State Championships. Those of you who attend the last two NBHA Championships KNOW how well they were rand and the INCREDIBLE quality and quantity of the awards! So, the group is old, having worked together for years, the name is new. This allows us flexibility and we are better able to focus on the needs and desires of our riders.

I’m sure you saw “Maximum Value” up above. We are very serious about value to the riders; therefore we are “Non-Profit”. All profits after expenses go back to the riders!

Our “payment” is the pleasure we get out of producing top-quality races at affordable prices.

We are committed to working and negotiating with ALL ASSOCIATIONS for the benefit of all barrel racers. We will meet with any association that desires a working relationship with us.

Why are we doing this? Aren’t there enough Organizations out there? Won’t this dilute the number of riders at other shows?

ANSWER:

Our group has been producing shows for several years, we are CONTINUING to do that, but under our own Prime-sanction (which is non-profit).

Associations are started by people who think they can do better than the existing associations.

We believe we can deliver an AFFORDABLE product WITHOUT sacrificing QUALITY.

We believe we can bring riders BACK into the sport, and that will benefit all associations.

The new Association is: Cascade West Productions (CWP), there is a link to their web-site on our PBHA and CBR pages. The site is under construction but there is data available, including show dates. Many more dates will be posted in the near future.

The Kick-off weekend for CWP will be at Elma February 7-8, 2009.

There are incentives for members who sign-up during our initial season.

PBHA and CBR will co-sanction their prime races with CWP, along with other associations.

This new association does not affect PBHA or CBR in any other way.

One thing I am excited about is CWP is Non-Profit, just like PBHA!

This means maximum return and value to the rider!

CWP offers our local riders an affordable CHAMPIONSHIP show November 20-22, 2009 at the Trails!

I will answer any questions about CWP via phone call or e-mail. I would prefer to not take comments on the discussion boards.

Thanks,

George
