Question: How are award points calculated?

Answer: Award points are calculated once all the standing for the year - end are tabulated.
qualifing members are given 1 Award Point for each place in Open Barrels between 2-14 and 1/2 pt for 15th place. Saddle 13,12,11,10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,.5 (15 Places)
Saddle winners do not get points too. (If a saddle winner wants to give up the saddle to the 2nd place winner, then the 2nd place winner will give the Champion their points.
(You do not get a saddle and points.) Award points are given to Youth, Senior the same way.
1/2 point is given to places in poles (10 places in poles are awarded)

Question: I placed in more than 1 division how come I did not get more award points?

Answer: If you paid 1 award fee than you received your points in the highest placing in the highest division
example: you placed 1st in 3D and 3rd in 2D. Your highest points were in the 3D so you received those points the points in the 2D went to the next member in the 2D. If you paid 2 award fees and rode 2 horses all year then you would receive both placings.

Question: How much is an award point worth?

Answer: Award points vary year to year by how much is in the bank at the end of the running season. This year award point are worth $20 that a point.
PBHA works with different suppliers to get the best price for awards that that we can. Your award points in most cases will go a lot further than if you were to purchase the products your self.

Question: Why are Poles only 1/2 points?

Answer: We are a barrel racing association, Poles is offered as a optional class. We have fewer riders and so less money is earned for the poles. At this time we can not justify awarding whole points.

Question: Where does the money come from?

Answer: Your $20 Membership fee your $20 award fee, 30% of the entry fee, left over office fees and Time run fees.

Question: How do I get Participation Points?

Answer: Participation points are awarded when you participate at a race and work the event. These points are added to your run points at the end of the year.

Question: If I did not get award points do I still need to attend the banquet?

Answer: If you had some hard luck this year and did not get any award points, please still come to the banquet. there will be other awards given out and a raffle or auction to support next year. we will also have some hard luck awards and other prizes for everyone. It will be great fun.

Question: Why is Buckaroo not on the list for Award pts.

Answer: Buckaroos are given a buckle at the end of the year for their participation in the Pacific Barrel Horse classes. Buckaroo is a non competive class. Buckaroos that can compete with the youth and open classes will get a graduation certificate and they must move out of Buckaroo the next year.

Question: Why is there no Medals Classes listed on the Award pts.

Answer: The medals class is just that. You are running for either a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal and these will be awarded at the banquet.
