August already

August already! We are approaching our final two PBHA weekends. We at last move OUTDOORS! Let’s hope the weather cooperates. POTLUCK Saturday evenings!

Speaking of weather, the votes have been tallied and we will cancel the rained out show.

There will be no “double-points” show. If we have another rainout we will need to schedule another date soon.

It has been a record-breaking season and a somewhat stressful one so far. We want to thank all our riders and SUPPORTERS.

Mitzi is working on an awards list and the saddles this year will be Corrientes these are really nice saddles for the money. We will go with a little fancier saddle that has a floral and basket weave mixed pattern.

If you have some ideas on what you want to see on the list of awards please email me by Sept. 1, 2007. I hope to have the buckles ready to order after the Sept. weekend so if you are getting a buckle you need to stay after and order it.

You-all may or may not have heard rumors that Mitzi and George are retiring from barrel racing! As in most rumors, there is a kernel of truth. We are tired of the constant stress, work, and traveling. Personally, we will be backing away from racing every weekend and producing the number of races that we do.

We will fulfill our commitments to shows already on the books and we will work at races we have committed too.

Will we ever produce “other” barrel races again? Perhaps, if the desire returns, but it may never be at the level of the last few years.

We need to slow down and enjoy life, our family, and our grandkids a bit. We have other interests we want to pursue. We started producing races because there was a need, now there are many producers and they will fill any void we leave.

Will this affect PBHA? NOPE…We will continue “business as usual” with PBHA.

We are busy with awards already,

(I hear we are upgrading the saddles!) and we have a tentative schedule for next season we are excited about.

One area we really need input. We are afraid that we are moving away from the core values PBHA has stood for in the past. I think we along with the other PBHA Directors and members need to put some thought into the future of PBHA.

What do you like, what aggravates you, what do we need to get back to, things like this we really want to hear. Please be a part of planning the future of PBHA.
