Don is owner and operator of Natural Settings Digital Imaging and Design, where he now teaches photography, guides naturalist/photo expeditions, and sells images to stock companies and professionally framed pictures to individuals.
Don holds degree's in photography, environmental education, natural sciences and law. Don has worked as a portrait, wedding, naturalist photographer and has taught classes in from basic, to nature photography. He has complimented his degree's of expertise as a photographer, environmental instructor, field biologist, and back country naturalist guide.
He started taking analog pictures 25 years ago and then moved to digital imaging several years ago. During these times he has traveled to all 50 states, experiencing and capturing images of the most spectacular natural wonders.
He was instrumental in setting up, teaching and coordinating Adopt a Stream programs,where he worked with cities,state, federal agencies, tribes,school systems, volunteer organizations and individuals to promote an understand the need for a more sustainable environment.
He worked and participated in many of WA and Oregon Fish and Wildlife programs was an professional observer with US Fish and Wildlife Service, and with the Northwest Indian Commission programs.
Over the years Don has been awarded twice conservationist of the year by local and WA .Council of Trout Unlimited and helped in the formation of of the Puget Sound Alliance in WA State.He was also presented an outstanding achievement award by the US Fish and Wild Service.
Over the years he has first hand experienced many of our nations natural parks,and refuges.
His travels have taken him to many locations, where he has photographed the natural environments of wildlife (Grizzly bears, Dall sheep, etc) in Denali National Park to Kealakekua Bay Underwater State Park Underwater State Park, on the Big Island of Hawaii. There his subjects included Manta Rays, reef sharks and other underwater wonders of the Pacific Ocean.On the Island of Hawaii he has guided individuals and groups to the tropic rain forests near Hilo, to Lava formations on Mauna Loa in Volcanoes National Park.
He was a canoeing guide/naturalist in Everglades National Park, observing and teaching animal behavior of many types of birds,reptiles and mammals..He has traveled to many other of national parks which includes Yellowstone,Yosemite,Redwoods,Mt. Rainier, Olympic, and Grand Canyon to name a few.He is also come to now many of our nations national forests, wilderness area's and wildlife refuges including Nisqually Wildlife Refuge in WA. State.
