Running

Because you are sitting there reading this,
I assume that you have some remote interest in running.

Until two years ago, I hated to run, now it is one of my favorite pastimes. I joined my school Cross Country team and really loved it. Then in the spring I participated in track. I think that running is one of the best things that any of us could do. It provides an opportunity to think about things, or talk with friends. Running can be both recreational and competitive, and almost always fun.

Some quotes about running:

  • "The difference between a jogger and a runner is an entry blank."
    -Dr. George Sheehan
  • "My feeling is that any day I am too busy to run is a day that I am too busy"
    -John Bryant
  • "It is true that speed kills. In distance running, it kills anyone who does not have it."
    -Brooks Johnson
  • "I eat whatever the guy who beat me in the last race ate."
    -Alex Ratelle
  • "Why dost thou run so many mile about?"
    -Shakespeare, Richard III
  • "Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win."
-Tom Flemming's Boston Marathon training sign
  • "A lot of people run a race to see who's the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts."
    -Steve Prefontaine
  • "Pre was like Henry the Fifth. He didn't rule very long, but he left a big mark."
    -Ken Kesey
  • "A race is a work of art that people can look at and be affected in as many ways as they're capable of understanding."
    -Steve Prefontaine
