MXPX: Life in General

Words can't describe how good this CD is, but I will try. MXPX isn't your normal Seattle area band. Each of their CDs have a unique sound, this one is a very clear, yet loud punk. The lyrics of this young band are far superior to nearly every band I have ever heard. Some say that they sound like Green Day clones. I have to disagree, MXPX plays in tune and MXPX has talent. Any of MXPX's CD's are well worth the money. These guys out of Bremerton really rock.

Everclear: Sparkle and Fade

By far the best CD ever recorded. This band out of Portland really knows how to rock it hard. I got the CD sometime early last year, and haven't gone more than two weeks without listening to it. The band has a kind of rock/alternative sound, but the lyrics go much deeper than any other trendy alternative band. The CD basically tells a little about the life of lead singer Art Alexakis.

Morphine: Cure for Pain

Very Very good CD. The band has a very mellow, laid back rock sound. This sound is accomplished with a guitar free instrumentation. Instead of a lead guitar, there is a lead saxaphone, played by Dana Colley. 2-string Slide Bass is covered by lead singer Mark Sandman. Percussion is played by Jerome Deupree, Billy Conway, and Ken Winokur. I really enjoy this CD because I can easily sing along to the lower range vocals.

Violent Femmes: violent femmes

Awesome CD. After 14 years, this CD hasn't lost any of its charm. The Violent Femmes are truly a powerful band with a great sound. Their primative sound gives the listener a sense of simplicity, yet their vocals leave the listener wondering. If you like an acoustic/80's rock sound, this CD rocks.

Dave Matthews Band: Under the Table and Dreaming

This CD has definately left its mark in new rock music. Dave Matthews, the lead singer and left acoustic guitar player, provides the listener with excellent, clear guitar playing as well as a unique singing style. The band has a very different sound, accomplished through violins, flutes, harmonica (played by Blues Traveler's John Popper) and saxaphones. Overall a very strong CD.

Green Apple Quickstep: Reloaded

One of the cooler bands out of Seattle. The guitar playing on this CD can't be matched by many bands. Tightly overlapping intricate guitar parts add to the over all greatness of this CD. Very good use of guitar effects, I have never heard so many effects on one CD. If you can find it in stores, get it.

Slick Shoes: Burn Out

This is a great CD, they remind me of MxPx, but they are also punk and Christian and under MxPx's old label. I really don't know much about the band, but I must say they are really cool, and I can hardly stop myself from dancing around the room when I hear this CD.
